You may have heard people talking about Hyaluronic acid and always wondered what it is and why it’s necessary. It of course gets a lot of hype online and there are always reviews raving it’s beneficial properties. I was of course enticed!
Everyone who knows me is aware of how much I love a good skincare product and this has been no exception. Before I purchased some, I wasn’t sure of really what it’s purpose was, so I decided to do some research and try it for myself, so let me fill you in!
What is Hyaluronic Acid?
The acid is naturally included in your skin to help keep your skin refreshed as it encourages the renewal of your skin cells.
It helps retain water which is great because as your skin ages, it loses some of its ability to retain water and keep your skin feeling plump and smooth. Therefore when Hyaluronic acid is applied, it brings back that plump skin feeling and minimises the appearance of any fine lines.
However, the benefits don’t stop there! This skincare goodie also has anti detoxing properties which helps protect your skin from environmental issues such as sun exposure and any harsh chemicals in the air.
How It Works
The acid works like a booster to your moisturiser, giving it that little bit of help to retain hydration within your skin. It’s important to moisturise at the same time as using this product to really reap the benefits of it. On its own, it can give the opposite affect to what you desire as it will dry and tighten up your skin.
Why Does Your Skin Need Hydration?
Ensuring your skin is adequately hydrated helps to boost the elasticity that your skin has which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. A hydrated and plumped face always looks more radiant and healthy! Soft, hydrated skin is also always a great base for a feet make up look!
When your skin is fully hydrated, it’s able to work at its full capacity to be rid of toxins. Of course hydrated skin isn’t only caused by skincare, you also need to drink plenty of water!
I’ve been using this product as part of my everyday skincare routine for the last few weeks now and I’ve been really seeing the benefits. After cleansing, exfoliating and toning, I use a few drops on the face and massage it in before I moisturise to give my skin a little bit of a boost in hydration, which we all need sometimes, especially in the colder months!
